Tomorrow night at Highland Park’s THIS, they will be sharing These Friends Three, the third entry in their yearly showcase of work from tons and tons and tons of rad artists that are friends of THIS. Yesterday we stopped by the space to check out how assembling the show was going. Take a look at a behind the scenes look at what to expect at Friday’s show below!
By our count, the show is going to be featuring over one hundred artists which include powerhouses like Geoff McFetridge, Travis Millard, Mel Kadel, Mike Perry, KC Ortiz, Pose, Chris Bettig, Claire and Jeremy Weiss, Steven Harrington, Cleon Peterson, Andy Mueller, and tons and tons and tons more. Walking around the space as they put it together, you could see just how varied pieces were, jumping from drawings to photos to screenprints to paintings: nearly every medium is represented in the work of their friends.
Speaking with Jeremy Weiss, one of the artists behind THIS who was helping setup the show, he said things were slightly behind schedule but that they were in a great position for Friday’s big opening. It was a little bustling in the space as pieces were being cleaned and laid out for installation, which are likely halfway up at this point. He also noted the sign painter, who was hard at work when we approached the building, polishing up the blue foundation of the letters.
These Friends Three opens tomorrow at 7PM and will likely carry on from the gallery to Little Cave next door after 10PM. Should be quite the fun scene, for sure. The show runs through March 23 and we should have coverage of the event to share Monday.
