Kudos to the LA Chamber Orchestra (LACO), who worked with British artist Luke Jerram, to bring a little music into our lives. Starting April 12, 30 pianos will be placed all around the county–think street corners, shopping malls, commercial centers– 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Each piano was given an artsy twist through the artistic talents of muralist Ken Twitchell, Chicano art movement leader Frank Romero, Chinese calligrapher Peizhi Yu with Son Qian. I don’t play the piano (unless you count Chopsticks), but I look forward to hunting out these pianos all over Los Angeles and, if I’m lucky, seeing someone awesome play like this guy below, who performed spontaneously out in the London version of this event.
