Catalogues can be so boring, right? Right. That word reminds me of these giant nineties JCPenny catalogues my grandmother would hoard under her coffee table and I’d read them like suburban Vogue every time I visited. Catalogues now are the antithesis of what filled my childhood and are now magazines, lite–or not a catalogue at all. Local brand Aether has a new entry in the atypical catalogue market that is more man fashion Fearless Flyer than it is anything else: it’s a fold out magazine dedicated to the Aether lifestyle.
The magazine is their Fall/Winter 2012 Journal and sort of serves as the brand co-founder’s lookbook of what they are into and an extension of their online journal. You can read about boats that double as hot tubs and the picturesque Whitepod Hotel and even an interview with Thierry Gaugain. You can peruse their Winter wish list and gadgets they’re into. For ya’ll sciencey folk, you can even see an explanation of how cold fronts form. The brand is keen to slip in a small infographic like deconstruction of their latest jacket, the Field Jacket.
It was an unexpected gift to get in the mail and is an undoubtedly free little catalogue experience for 2012 consumers. Sign up for their mailing list here and get ready to unfold some Aether next season. Peruse their wears here.
