We’re getting really pumped for our LAIY x Devastator event this Saturday which is going to celebrate all things Indie. It will be a lot of fun and we’ve planned manyf fun happenings to go on throughout the evening. One thing we’ve been in charge of is the music. In addition to some in-shop sounds, we wanted to share one of two exclusive mixes that we’ve made for the event. Download it after the jump!
The mix is titled Hear LA and is a celebration of all of our favorite songs from LA artists that have come out in the past few months. It captures quite a range of super new and not-that-new music in addition to the super melodic and the super dissonant. I don’t know if you could call it particularly reactive to anything aside from what music we’re growing in Los Angeles. To me, that definitely means Nite Jewel and some DāM-Funk in addition to more abstract persons like John Tejada and even a Shlohmo song that’s gone through the Nicolas Jaar ringer.
I make no claims of being an expert mixer or anything of that nature so do not judge any failed creative attempts at audial oddity. Enjoy the mix and take it as a musical preview for Saturday’s event. You can also find our other mix for the event over on The Fox Is Black. The two kind of work together as dual sides of the “indie” coin: one takes the idea and celebrates homegrown talent while the other is a slightly obnoxious, one-upping hour plus of music “you probably have never heard of.”
