As we shared earlier this week, we stopped by Apolis in the Arts District to check out the space and, while there, also checked out a cool showroom just a skip away: The CNTRL Group Showroom. The Group, who do everything from PR to brand development to styling for brands, have a taken on some cool new people that you will surely be seeing around town.
The first is a fairly familiar brand (well, familiar in the sense that you’ve probably seen someone wearing them as they are kind of iconic) is the French footwear makers Feiyue. Feiyues are very comfortable, very simple and versatile shoes that can be dressed up and down, worn to play tennis or when you about town. They come in low-tops and high-tops and in casual sport fabrics and more sophisticated almost-leathery fabrics. The branding, too, is a statement, either announcing itself in red and blue or debossing into the side paneling as an accent to the shoe. The shoes are currently available online and, very soon, will be spotted in stores around town. Be on the look out, folks.
They also carry Sierra Designs 60/40 Parkas, which come from the American heritage brand Sierra Designs based in California. The jackets–which were also in the Apolis store–very recently came back to the US after being distributed in Japan. The “60/40″ comes from the parka being “60% cotton and 40% nylon,” which provides for perfect mountain apparel (and, even though we don’t need mountain apparel, it looks pretty sweet when worn over a shirt and tie on a night out, etc.). The parkas are available at New High Mart, Union Made, Mollusk, Steven Alan, and–of course–Apolis (among many others).
The final item they carry in their show room are Kelty’s Vintage Backpacks. Kelty is an all American brand from Colorado, who are heritage-y and mountain-y as well (the brand is known for making framed mountain gear). The Vintage bags are a return to form in bag making, letting the quality of the product speak instead of lots of bells and whistles. They come in very raw, earthy colors–from navy blues to earthy reds to tanned beiges–and a few different styles, to accomodate if you’re using it when you bike, go for a hike, or just are–you know–wearing it around. You can find these at New High Mart, General Quarters, Seed Supply Shop, and St&ndard Goods.
The CNTRL Group show room is bringing these “now” Americana products to more and more stores so, when you see them around, now you know where they are coming from. Moreover, they’ll be having some sample sales and such in the future: as soon as we hear, we’ll definitely let everyone know. In the meantime, take a look around more of the showroom below.
