Is Los Angeles Yours? We’d Love For You To Share!

Are You Cool And In Los Angeles You May Be Cool For Us, Then.

Do you love Los Angeles? Are you on top of the artistic and cultural trends in the city? Do you consider yourself a tastemaker, but not a scenester, in town? Do you like answering questions and asking questions? Well, we may have a job for you here at Los Angeles, I’m Yours! We’re looking for new collaborators and are interested in hearing if you’d like to help out or if you have any ideas for future projects!

First things first: we’re looking for writers and photographers. For writers, here’s what we need:

• Send three writing samples. These do not have to be related to the site’s focus, but should convey your writing style, voice, and opinions on things. They should be two to four paragraphs each.
• Send ten article pitches of things you would contribute to Los Angeles, I’m Yours. This is the most important part: we get to see what you would like to share on LAIY. These need to be one to three sentences each, explaining your concept for a post: they should be pitches for articles. Please don’t just send in things like a write up Under The Big Black Sun at MOCA, a restaurant review of Son Of A Gun, an essay about Pacific Standard Time, and reasons why you love Coachella. Sure, those could be great, but we want things that are a little less on the nose.
• Let us know how long you have lived in Los Angeles, what you do in the city, what neighborhood you live in, a few of your favorite places to hang out, and if you have a car. We want to get a sense of your relationship with the city.
• Include any pertinent social media of yours, such as your blog, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook–anything you feel is important to get a sense of who you are.
• Send this to kyle@laimyours.com by February 24, 2012 at 6PM PST with the subject line “Los Angeles Writer.”
• If you do not live in Los Angeles at the moment, do not submit. We will not be able to consider you.

More information: we’re hoping to have writers submit on a weekly or biweekly basis. There is not any compensation at the moment; however, we will do our best to send you to cool events that come our way and will take you out to drinks/dinner/etc. Once we have some cash, we’ll get you cash, too.

If you are a photographer who’d like to help out, we’re looking for people who’d like to shoot our Featured Interviews or create photo driven pieces/photo essays:

Send us your work. Easy as pie: send in your website or Flickr, wherever we can see your work and point of view.
Send availability. Typically, we work during the week, depending on when we can schedule subjects. We can be somewhat flexible but, of course, occasionally, we have small windows to work with and want to know if we could work together to fill it.
Must be able to work digitally. Analogue is great and we love it but sometimes we have quick turnarounds and very often cannot reshoot anything after set meetings/shoots.

Unfortunately this position is not compensated to begin with, but we are hoping to be able to supply something in the future. However, there will be opportunities to attend events, galleries, and openings on behalf of the site. We’re always looking for people to help out so, of course, if you don’t make the deadline–don’t fret: submit when you can.

We’re looking forward to hearing from you guys and definitely tell your friends that we’re looking for new people.
